CASE 5: Osteosarcoma Lumbar Vertebral Metastasis
- Hits: 50
Our male patient, who previously received treatment for osteosarcoma located in the knee (distal femur) and was found to have metastases to the lumbar vertebrae during follow-up, underwent reconstruction with en bloc corpectomy and elevator cage + posterior instrumentation, as there were no additional metastases.
Before the surgery: The X-ray shows irregularity and collapse in the first lumbar vertebra.

Before the surgery: MRI revealed a mass filling almost the entire first lumbar vertebra, causing a pathological fracture.

During the Surgery: The clinical and fluoroscopy images of the removed tumorous vertebra, as well as the surgical field, are shown.

Post-Surgery: The X-ray shows a titanium cage placed in the space created after the tumorous vertebra was removed, and secured with screws from the back.
