CASE 26: Osteosarcoma located on the distal femur

A 21-year-old male patient underwent extensive resection and reconstruction with tumor prosthesis due to distal femoral osteosarcoma.

 

Before the surgery: X-ray shows an irregular mass in the distal femur causing significant damage and deformity, and CT angiography shows contact with major vessels (femoral artery-vein).

The MRI shows a giant tumor tissue located in the distal femur with irregular borders and contents, pushing against the vascular and nerve bundle.

The incision line and the space created after resection.

Tumor prosthesis implantation and soft tissue coverage.

The X-ray shows the distal femur tumor resection prosthesis implanted to replace the removed mass.
