CASE 37: Osteosarcoma located in the proximal tibia
- Hits: 46
Our male child patient, who underwent reconstruction with a combination of tumor prosthesis and muscle (gastrocnemius) flap after wide resection following chemotherapy for osteosarcoma located in the proximal tibia, and bone recovered with liquid nitrogen.
Before the surgery: X-ray shows an irregularly bordered sclerotic lesion in the proximal tibia.

Before the surgery: MRI shows an irregularly bordered mass lesion in the proximal tibia causing bone destruction and extending into the soft tissue, accompanied by surrounding edema.

During the Surgery: Clinical and fluoroscopy images of the removed tumor tissue.

During the Surgery: Post-resection gastrocnemius flap preparation, continuity of neurovascular structures and patellar tendon are visualized.

During the Surgery: Patellar tendon suture and gastrocnemius flap coverage are observed after resection and tumor prosthesis placement.

Post-Surgery: The X-ray shows the reconstruction of a proximal tibia tumor prosthesis with bone recovered after resection.
