CASE 20: Breast cancer sacral metastasis

  • 41-year-old female patient
  • She is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
  • A patient with a history of radiotherapy for bone metastases presented to us with complaints of recurrent lower back pain radiating to the leg, along with numbness.
  • In a case of bone damage and nerve root compression due to sacral breast cancer metastasis recurrence, nerve root release (laminectomy) and filling of the resulting cavity with bone cement after tumor removal were successfully performed.
  • The patient, whose symptoms decreased, was discharged without any problems.


Before the surgery: MRI shows tumor recurrence, surrounding edema, nerve root compression, and CT scan reveals bone damage.

Post-Surgery:
The X-ray shows that after the tumor was removed, the resulting cavity was filled with bone cement.
